Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day. Genesis 1:11-13
The use of essential oils for aromatic and wellness practices has been around since the beginning of time. But they are gaining popularity for their versatility. Not only are more and more people looking to essential oils to naturally replacing many of the chemically produced products that are on our store shelves today, but they are being researched, experimented with, and used for the treatment of many ailments, diseases, and conditions.
It’s seriously just about getting back to the basics of what God provided us with on the third day of creation.
I’ve learned that those who are new to essential oils get very confused about what to use and how to use them, so I’ve tried to name my blends according to what and when you would use them. The “how” to use them can depend on your own personal preference and convenience. Typically, the three ways to utilize the benefits of essential oils are through ingestion, aromatically by inhalation, and topically. For your safety, PLEASE DO NOT INGEST ANY OF MY BLENDS.
Inhalation is one of the most effective ways to utilize the aromatherapy benefits of essential oils. Probably the most popular way is to use a diffuser. These come in many different varieties and shapes. Chose a style that accessorizes your taste. There is no need to run the diffuser continuously, as the benefits last after the diffusion has ended. There are many other options: Aromatherapy inhalers (sticks), smelling salts, and lava rocks. There is beautiful diffuser jewelry: necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings. There are even car diffusers. You can add a few drops to a cotton ball and put it in a room (I like to put the cotton ball in a small glass jar ), or you can simply put a drop in your hands, rub them together, cuff your hands and inhale. The options are endless.
To apply topically, you’ll want to first test your skin for sensitivity. My blends do contain “hot” oils so it is likely that you will require the use of carrier oil. The use of carrier oil will not dilute the effect of the essential oil blend but will ensure that oils applied topically are not irritating. I personally use fractionated liquid coconut oil, but you can use, olive oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado, apricot kernel, etc. If the oils get in your eyes or cause irritation to the skin – DO NOT USE WATER! Flush and dilute the area with a safe carrier oil to alleviate the discomfort. I just mix it in my hands. First, put a little carrier oil in the palm of your hand, then drop 1-2 drops of my blend on top of the carrier oil. You can apply essential oils to most parts of your body, but research has determined the following areas of the body is where the skin in most permeable: head and neck region – specifically the crown of your head, behind your ears, neck, and your temples; chest, stomach and back, arms, and legs.
