Volcanic Lava Beads, earthy yet elegant, are completely natural. Each bead is completely unique, therefore no two are alike. Lava stones come from deep within the earth. They are formed when volcanoes erupt. Incredibly hot lava shoots out of the volcano and runs down the side. Once it cools and dries it becomes lava stone.
While lava stones are quite porous by nature, their tiny holes not only make them lightweight and comfortable to wear, more importantly, they allow them to soak up the beautiful aroma of an essential oil blend of your choice.
Hematite has a beautiful shiny, mirror-like luster that is silver in color. It is an iron oxide mineral. You’ll notice the beads are a little heftier than others because of their high density. However, its stones measure only 5-6 on the hardness scale. They are opaque, tumbled stones producing a bright metallic shine.
Hematite is commonly-mined ore of iron and is found in rocks throughout the world.
This enticing snow-white stone is graced with black or dark grey veining through the bead. This porous, opaque stone is named after 19th-century mineralogist, Henry How, who first found it in Nova Scotia.
It is a softer stone and takes well to dyes. Often dyed in hues of blue for an inexpensive alternative to turquoise.
Take care to clean the howlite, use lukewarm, slightly soapy water, and a soft cloth (cotton is best). Rinse well to remove residue and pat dry. If your howlite is dyed, do not immerse the stone. Store howlite wrapped in a soft cloth to reduce the likelihood of scratching or damage.
When hematite is ground down into a fine powder, it is actually red! The colored powder is what inspired its name. Hematite is derived from the Greek word haimatos which means blood red.
‘For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him
