Activated Black Charcoal

100% Food Grade, made from coconut shells: Activated charcoal boosts beauty benefits for skin by drawing out oil, dirt, and other harmful substances from clogged pores due to its absorption power. It is very effective in treating body odor and acne.

Alfalfa Powder

Organic:  While used as a natural colorant, alfalfa’s rich combination of vitamins A, C, E, and K, antioxidants, and immune-boosting properties actually make it the perfect go-to for revitalizing the skin.  It’s known to promote skin regeneration.  It also promotes against aging and significantly improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Argan Oil – Moroccan

Organic:   Moroccan Argan Oil is highly coveted for its therapeutic  abilities to deeply moisturize, hydrate,  and heal the skin.  It absorbs easily and is packed with antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids, linoleic acid, vitamin A and vitamin E to help give skin a youthful glow.  It restores elasticity and leasves the skin feeling plumper and softer.  Other benefits of Argan Oil include easing inflammation, and calming skin infections, bug bites, and skin rashes.

Arnica Oil

Organic, found to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, and may be helpful for treating or relieving:  Muscle aches, spasms, pulled muscles or rheumatic pain, sprains, bruises and swelling due to fractures, insect bites and acne (should not be used on broken skin).  Arnica oil also aids in stimulating the flow of white blood cells, which process congested blood to help disperse trapped fluid from the joints, muscles and bruised tissue.

Avocado Butter

This fruit is naturally loaded with over 25 vital nutrients including vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, and minerals such as copper, potassium, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus. It also contains essential proteins, fibers and beneficial phytochemicals like glutathione, lutenist, and beta-sitosterol and thus is traditionally used for treating health and skincare problems like wrinkles and age spots, bright’s disease, psoriasis and acne, and even helps to protect your skin from the UVA and UVB harmful rays of the sun!

Avocado Oil

100% Pure: One of the amazing property of avocado oil is their humectancy, which prevents the skin from drying out and allows the skin to stay hydrated for longer periods. It’s an awesome choice for people with sensitive or problem skin as well as other irritations that require a vitamin-rich oil. It is found to be effective in preventing the effects of acne and has been proven to be effective against skin related diseases like eczema.

Baking Soda

Sodium Bicarbonate, Aluminum Free: This natural substance has antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Baking Soda helps to treat the cause as well as reduce the symptoms of acne and other breakouts. It is a good exfoliating agent that helps remove dead cells. Being an antibacterial agent, it also helps kill bacteria that give rise to body odor.

Beeswax

Organic, White: Beeswax is a wonderful moisturizer for the skin. It is rich in vitamin A content and emollient properties, which soften and re-hydrate the skin as well as aid in the healthy development of cellular reconstruction. Contrary to what you may think, it won’t clog pores – because it is comedogenic. Beeswax has a strong antiseptic, healing and anti-inflammatory properties, making it effective in the treatment of acne, jock itch and fungal skin infections.

Cacao Butter

Organic, Raw, Unrefined: Rich in essential omega fatty acids and high in antioxidants, Cacao Butter helps to fight of free radicals that cause skin aging, dark patches and dull skin. Using cacao butter topically on the skin is a treat like no other – it leaves our skin glowing, vibrant, revitalized, soft and supple. Taste it, smell it, feel it on your skin – it’s euphoria for your senses.

Cacao Powder

Raw, Organic: Rich in high levels of polyphenol antioxidants, iron and magnesium, cacao powder has the ability to help prevent wrinkles, provides hydration and increases the blood flow to improve skin density. But don’t worry, neither eating cacao nor using it topically will make your skin break out, so relax and enjoy.

Castor Oil

Refined, Expeller Pressed: Used in early Bible times, castor oil has many wonderful benefits. It is a warm oil that promotes the circulation of fluids in the body. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties which promote decongestant action on the lymphatic system. Thanks to the undecylenic acid, it is great at fighting fungal infections. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of castor oil may be effective at healing acne, warts and skin tags. Besides all that, it is highly viscous, which means the oil stays put, it penetrates deep into the skin tissue and nourishes it with fatty acids making is deeply moisturizing.

CANDELILLA WAX

Pure & Natural:  Used as a viable substitution for beeswax for my vegan friends, candelilla wax is a plant based wax and is rich in nutrients, is easily absorbed, and is odorless.  According to the Environmental Working Group, it increases the residence time of natural emollients on the skin and helps to provide a protective, moisture resistant environment of the skin, leaving a lovely sheen and smooth texture to balms.

Beet Root

Organic: While chosen as a natural coloring for my products, beets just happen to be loaded with all kinds of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals like potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and calcium. Beet roots contain lots of vitamins A, B, and C, including vitamin B9.

Chlorella

Organic:  While Chlorella is known to be a superfood rich with phytonutrients, including amino acids, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, potassium, phosphorous, biotin, magnesium and the B-complex vitamins, it has also been tested topically. When applied topically it can help with the effects of scars, reduce inflammation and heal wounds.

Citric Acid

100% Pure: Citric acid can slough off dead skin cells and speed new cell regeneration. The latter promotes new skin growth that can help alleviate the appearance of age spots, acne scars, small wrinkles and areas of uneven tone and texture. It is considered an antioxidant that can help the regeneration of skin tissue and slowing down the aging process.

Coconut Oil

Organic, raw, unrefined, virgin cold pressed: Most of us know the many benefits of consuming coconut oil, but did you know you can also reap many benefits of coconut oil from the outside – in? Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal. It is loaded with good fats, which makes for an excellent moisturizer. These fats give the skin a healthy, smooth and even tone.

Epsom Salts

Epsom Salt is a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. These two minerals are both readily absorbed through the skin, making Epsom salt baths an easy and ideal way to enjoy the associated health benefits. Magnesium plays a number of roles in the body including regulating the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, easing pain, helping muscle and nerve function, and helping to prevent artery hardening. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins, and help ease migraine headaches.

Essential Oil – Bergamont – Certified Organic

Bergamot is unique among citrus oils due to its ability to be both calming and uplifting, making it ideal to help with anxious and sad feelings.  It is cleansing and purifying for the skin while also having a calming effect.  Bergamot has also been credited for fighting bacteria, helping to reduce the appearance of scars and reducing painful headaches and muscle tension, as well as stimulating hormonal and digestive juices.

Essential Oil – Cederwood – Certified Organic

The sweet and woodsy scent of cedarwood offers sedating, calming effects and focus-enhancing abilities, specifically in those with ADD/ADHD.  This warming oil supports creativity and memory and mood boosting.  Great for relieving tension and stress and increasing focus.

Essential Oil – Cinnamon Bark – Certified Organic

This most ancient of spices has been touted for its therapeutic values and warming properties for thousands of years.  Its high concentration of antioxidants makes it a well-know immune booster.  It has shown to help with weight management, and has been well studied for its benefits with blood sugar issues.  It has also commonly been used to combat cardiovascular issues and aid in supporting a healthy microbial environment.

Essential Oil – Clove Bud – Certified Organic

While the warm, spicy aroma has been known to repels insects, it’s aromatic influence may influence healing, improve memory, and create a feeling of protection and courage.  Uses throughout history include: analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiparasitic, strong antiseptic, antiviral, and disinfectant.  So whatever you have, it’s sure to Knock It Out!

Essential Oil – Eucalyptus Globulus

Essential Oil – Eucalyptus Globulus – Certified Organic: Eucalyptus oil is highly respected as being analgesic, antibacterial, anticatarrhal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, an antiviral agent, antispasmodic, insecticidal, and as an expectorant. Besides giving you the soft, blemish-free skin you so desire, the sweet smelling aroma is known to calm you down and help you relax.

Essential & Fragrance Oil – Frankincense & Myrrh

This is the only oil I use that is NOT 100% Pure Essential Oils. The cost was so prohibitive. This blend contains 25.3% essential oils and resins. The remain components are natural and synthetic aroma ingredients. It is phthalate free. Frankincense and Myrrh are anti-septic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, anti-microbial, anti-viral, astringents, expectorants, stimulants, carminatives, stomachics, anti catarrhal, diaphoretic, vulnerary, anti-spasmodic, immune boosters, and they improve circulation.

Essential Oil – Grapefruit – Certified Organic

This uplifting fragrance is known to increase energy levels and metabolism. Grapefruit is rich in antioxidants. Primarily, it has a wealth of Vitamin-C which boosts our immune system and fights against the activity of free radicals that reduce oxidative stress and disease-causing inflammation. The antiviral and antimicrobial properties of grapefruit essential oil make it great for disinfecting and deodorizing.

Essential Oil – Ginger – Certified Organic

Most used for its warming, immune boosting properties, this lemony and woodsy scented oil  may also relieve feelings of anxiety, depression, and exhaustion.  A scientific review reported that when inhaled, ginger oil was effective in reducing nausea and relieving pain following surgery.  It has been used for centuries not only for fighting infections, but also for cooling inflammation and has shown to help with respiratory issues.

Essential Oil – Lemon – Certified Organic

Not only adored for its uplifting. energizing, citrusy scent, but lemon oil is touted for its invigorating, purifying and cleansing properties.  The presence of d-limonene makes it a powerhouse for many things from supporting cellular health, cleaning toxins, stimulating lymph drainage, rejuvenating energy, and purifying skin to repelling insects.

Essential Oil – Lemongrass – Certified Organic

Lemongrass, with its fresh, earthy, and citrusy scent, uplifts spirits and fights depression. It’s known to have anti-fungal properties which can kill or stifle the growth of bacteria and fungi, and anti-inflammatory properties which help relieve pain in muscles and joints. Lemongrass oil is an effective cleanser for all skin types; its antiseptic and astringent properties make lemongrass oil perfect for getting even and glowing skin. It can sterilize your pores, serve as a natural toner, and strengthen your skin tissues.

Essential Oil – Orange 10X – (Skin) Cold Pressed

To get that awesome revitalizing citrus orange scent, this oil is folded 10 times! What does that mean? It’s a form of concentrating the oil and removing much of the lower boiling components, primarily d-Limonene. The higher the number, the more times it’s been folded, or concentrated. This is folded 10 times via fractional distillation. The still filters out the unnecessary components and concentrates all the “good smelling” components to enliven the senses.

Essential Oil – Orange – Certified Organic

This delightful oil provides a rich citrus scent that alleviates anxiety, anger, depression and certain bodily inflammations. It’s know to inhibit microbial growth and disinfect wounds, boost immunity, relax muscular and nervous spasms and cure acne and dermatitis.

Essential Oil – Nutmeg – Certified Organic

The spicy, warm and sweet aroma is so comforting and soothing. Nutmeg is often used as a sleep aid, as it can help calm the spirit, soften fears, help you relax and lift you into a sedative state.  It also encourages self-esteem, dissolves sadness, and enhances your mood.  And because it’s anti-inflammatory, it may help reduce pain associated with hormonal imbalance and menstruation.

Essential Oil – Ylang Ylang – Certified Organic

The calming, relaxing, sweet floral scent of Ylang Ylang has a positive effect on immune health, blood flow and has been touted for promoting a positive outlook,  Because it’s considered an effective antidepressant with sedative effects, it is used to ease tension and stress, reduce mental fatigue, and help you relax.  Promotes feelings of self-love, confidence, joy and peace.

Known for its musky aroma, patchoili is packed with anti-phlogistic properties – meaning it has the power to soothe inflammation. But its magic doesn’t stop there. Other health benefits that can be attributed to its properties are as an antiseptic, astringent, fungicide, insecticide, and even as an aphrodisiac! As an anti-depressant it is very sedating, calming, and relaxing.

It boosts the strength of the immune system, tones skin and removes dryness, stimulates blood circulation and relieves pain. Rosemary also improves your mood and lowers your stress level.

Essential Oil – Tea Tree (also known as Melaleuca)

Essential Oil – Tea Tree (also known as Melaleuca)- Certified Organic:  This fresh, antiseptic, and minty scented oil is known for its powerful antiseptic properties and ability to treat wounds.  There are over 327 scientific studies  that refer to tea tree oil’s antimicrobial prowess alone.  Another study showed it to be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide in treating acne, without any negative side effects.  It’s great for relieving any type of skin inflammation or fungal infections.  Want to eliminate body odors? – Tea Tree Oil!

Essential Oil – Vetiver – Organic

This  sweet, smoky oil can boost a worn out immune system and calm the mind. It has shown to improve focus and mental sharpness, particularly in those with ADD/ADHD. Using vetiver oil is helpful with numerous neurological issues and feelings of nervousness and anxiousness. And is a great way to boost energy levels.

Hemp Oil – Organic

Hemp Oil – Organic: Pressed from the seed, hemp oil contains a power-packed punch of vitamins and nutrients. It is high is omega acids 3, 6, and 9 and is comprised of about 80% essential fatty acids, which, when applied topically are critical in keeping skin hydrated, giving it a younger, smoother appearance and reduces inflammation in the body. As a humectant, hemp oil naturally draws moisture to the skin. Also, because it is non-comedogenic, it won’t clog pores or cause breakouts.

Honey – Organic, Raw – unpasteurized

Honey – Organic, Raw – unpasteurized: Loaded with minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, and natural enzymes, honey nourishes, soothes and disinfects the skin. It’s deeply moisturizing. Honey naturally absorbs excess oil, making it an excellent cleanser, especially for acne. Honey also contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide, a well-known disinfectant. Applying a thin coating of honey to the skin can disinfect and heal minor skin wounds and chapped lips.

Jojoba Oil – Expeller, cold pressed

Organic, golden, cold pressed:  Jojoba oil is noncomedogenic (it doesn’t clog the pores). It is rich in iodine, which fights harmful bacteria growth that leads to breakouts. Jojoba oil stimulates collagen synthesis and accelerates the wound-healing process. It can reduce skin lesions, protects and cleanses the skin, and soothes fine lines and wrinkles.

Madder Root

Organic: While used primarily for the purpose of a natural colorant, madder has been known to promote wound healing when applied to the skin for certain skin conditions..

Mango Butter

Mango Butter: Rich in oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated omega-9 acid; and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid, Mango butter deeply moisurizes. The vitamin C encourages plumper skin, the vitamin A encourages a revitalized, glowing look; which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and gives you that youthful glow!

Olive Oil – Organic, cold pressed

Olive Oil – Organic, cold pressed: Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols ; thereby protecting the skin from aging prematurely. It penetrates deeply helping to restore skin’s smoothness and protect against ultraviolet light all while providing a cleansing effect.

Palm Oil – Sustainably sourced

Physically refined without chemical solvents: Palm oil is fantastic for removing oil and dirt from skin and hair. It contains toctrienols (members of the Vitamin E family) which have been proven to be very effective in preventing aging and damage from free radicals. Palm oil’s ability to penetrate deep into the skin’s layers enables healing and provides protection. Because of it’s re-fatting agent, it helps restore the skin and hair’s natural oils making for a beautiful conditioning agent. It provides deep moisturizing properties, making it an excellent addition for anti-aging products.

Rose Hip Oil – Certified Organic

Rose Hip Oil – Certified Organic: Rose hip oil is like a multivitamin for your skin: rich in essential fatty acids – including omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. With its neutral pH balance and anti- inflammatory properties, rose hip oil keeps skin balanced and healthy, helping to protect against cell degeneration caused by bacteria and oxidants. The Vitamin A enhances the skin’s moisture level as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Rose Kaolin Clay

Kaolin clay, also know as Hydrated Aluminum Silicate, is a naturally occurring clay substance found in soils that have developed from the weathering of rocks. While I really chose this ingredient as a natural colorant, turns out there are beneficial properties for the skin as well. The clay contains high content of silica which aids in the removal of dead skin, and thereby helping it to regenerate. It also purifies and detoxifies the skin, leaving it soft and moist.

Rose Buds & Petals

Aromatically, rose calms and soothes the mind. In Ayurvedic medicine, they are used to detoxify and calm. The natural oils found in roses help lock moisture into the skin, keeping skin feeling silky smooth. Being a rich source of Vitamin C, rose petals help protect skin cells from damage, such as from the sun. Their antibacterial properties also make them an ideal choice for acne-prone skin. While they help sooth rosecea and eczema, they also help tighten pores and restore suppleness for a glowing complexion. And best of all, they add a hint of romance!

Rubbing Alcohol – 91% Isopropyl

Rubbing Alcohol – 91% Isopropyl: A great antiseptic – used to cleanse the skin of bacteria. It is also used as a pain reliever, it can reduce arthritis symptoms like joint pain and dry skin. It is said to have a rubefacient effect on the skin, meaning it cools and soothes tired, weathered skin.

Shea Butter – 100 percent pure

Shea Butter – 100 percent pure, unrefined, raw African shea butter: While shea butter is extremely moisturizing and very hydrating, it also constitute a significant source of anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor promoting compounds. It is rich in stearic, oleic acids and benefit-rich vitamin E and vitamin A, making it great for boosting collagen production and promotes anti-aging properties.

Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)

Sodium Hydroxide (Lye): Sodium Hydroxide is used to cause a reaction called saponification to create soap. Sodium Hydroxide is completely safe after it has been combined with other constituents to create an effective, safe, and diverse cleaning agent known as soap. There isn’t un-reacted Sodium Hydroxide in the finished soap because a new product has been formed. Can’t make cold-processed soap without it!

Sweet Almond Oil – cold processed

100% Pure, cold processed Sweet Almond Oil contains many beneficial fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin E and several B vitamins. Because it absorbs easily and has rich emollient properties, it makes for a great moisturizer and has been know to reduce the occurrence of acne.

Tocopheryl Acetate – Pure Vitamin E

When it comes to protecting and repairing your skin, Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants you can choose. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals and prevent cellular damage from occurring. When we can fight off free radicals, we can reduce wrinkles and keep the skin looking youthful. It’s also an anti-inflammatory, so it calms and hydrates sensitive skin.

Turmeric – Organic: Curcumin

Turmeric – Organic: Curcumin – one of the most important active compounds found in turmeric – is an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral powerhouse. Studies have revealed that turmeric does indeed speed up the healing process of wounds. Curcumin has been shown to be quite effective in calming the symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, scleroderma, rosacea, as well as other skin diseases.

Witch hazel’s powerful antioxidant and astringent benefits are known to help speed healing, prevent signs of aging, stop cellular damage that can lead to skin cancer and eradicate bacteria that lives within the pores of the skin. It is considered to be one of the best natural acne treatments because of it’s tannins that help to remove excess oil from the skin. Because of it’s a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it’s able to fight free radicals to protect against DNA damage.
